Hydraulic cylinder – Also known as the linear hydraulic motor, it does the job of giving unidirectional force via a unidirectional stroke. It is actually a mechanical Actuator. The hydraulic cylinder is made of mainly a Hydraulic Cylinders base, cylinder head, cylinder barrel, piston rod, seal gland, piston and seals. The hydraulic cylinder has a piston connected with a piston rod and placed inside the cylinder barrel.
Types of Hydraulic Cylinders – There are mainly two types of hydraulic cylinders, the welded body cylinder and the rod cylinder. The rod cylinder makes used of threaded steel rods of high strength in order to hold the cylinder barrels to end caps. While in the case of welded body cylinder tie rods are not present. The ports are welded to the barrel and the barrel to the end caps directly. The front rod gland is either bolted or threaded into the cylinder barrel in order to facilitate the removal of it for servicing.
